The Genetti Hotel & Suites Presents "Artistry Beyond the Camera" by Stephanie Calhoun
What: Stephanie Colucci Calhoun is the Bald Eagle Art League (BEAL) artist exhibiting for the month of July at the Genetti 4th Street Grille Gallery located in the Genetti Hotel and Suites. Stephanie loves making ordinary subjects extraordinary through photographs. She lives in Nippenose Valley, a rural farm community, where she gets a lot of inspiration for her pictures. Some of her favorite subjects are trees, barns, animals, and landscapes. She got into photography about 11 years ago when she got two German Shepherd pups and her husband bought her a 35mm camera. Her desire for other types of photography grew from there. Her German Shepherd dog, Leyna, was very photogenic and never minded posing for her. She became very interested in, and now specializes in dog portraits.
Stephanie says "I love photography! I’m really passionate about all aspects of it. From finding a subject, choosing the best composition and then editing – I love it all! Editing is where I can show my artistic vision for the emotion I want to convey. This can consist of anything from bumping up the contrast to adding textures; giving the photo a whole new look. Textures add color, drama and interest; allowing me to express myself artistically within the limitations of this two-dimensional medium."
