PERFORMANCES

EXHIBITS

Genetti Hotel and Suites Presents “Perception: Pigment & Pixels” by Steven L. Getz
What: Steve Getz is the Bald Eagle Art League (BEAL) artist exhibiting for the month of February at the Genetti 4th Street Grille Gallery. The exhibit title "Perception: Pigment & Pixels" refers to the perception of old versus new techniques and how people judge recent applications in the field of art. In particular, pigment compared to pixels or traditional painting versus digital painting. Steve says, "When discussing digital painting, many people think you push a button and artwork magically is created in deepest crevices of the binary code in a computer. I’m still searching for the magic button. On average, my digital art takes the same time to complete as an oil painting. I truly love painting in oil or acrylic and can’t envision a time that I wouldn’t do so. However, digital painting gives me that same feeling but in a slightly different way." The purpose of this collection of work isn’t to promote one method over another. It is more about understanding and appreciating artwork on its own without making a predetermined judgement on whether one takes more skill than the other. In Steve's experience, both can be equally difficult or simple depending on the moment in time they were created.
When: The exhibit of his work opens with a reception on First Friday, February 5th from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public during regular 4th Street Grille hours through March 1st.
Where: The Gallery is located in the back room of the 4th Street Grille in the Genetti Hotel and Suites, 200 West 4th Street, Downtown Williamsport.

The Graphite Gang presents “Grey Matters – More” at the Pajama Factory
What: A loosely-formed group known as The Graphite Gang returns for a new show "Grey Matters - More". Six artists, all studio tenants of the Pajama Factory, will be showing a variety of work that has one commonality – it's ALL graphite. Returning artists from the first Graphite show held in September of 2014 are Jordan DeArment and David Becker. New Artists in the Graphite Gang are Joanne Landis, Cris Knell, Leslie James and Tommy Grieco. Everyone in the show has been in the realm of graphite before and many of the artists have wandered to other media, but it is the pencil, the graphite, which reminds them of their beginnings – The beginnings of their art and ideas. The graphite drawings are not always just beginnings as evidenced by the finished works in the exhibit.
When: The exhibit opens with a reception on First Friday, February 5th from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. After the opening, the gallery and show will be accessible through February 25th by appointment by contacting Dave Becker at 570.326.1212 or Barb Andreassen, Pajama Factory Co-Manager - Tenant Liaison at 570.220.1170.
Where: “Grey Matters - More” is part of the First Friday festivities at the Pajama Factory, 1307 Park Avenue, Williamsport in the FactoryWorks Gallery #10, building 9, 2nd floor.
