Fair Premium Books

What: The 2009 Lycoming County Fair Premium Books are now available.

Summer Scouting Program

What: The Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania will be holding a summer program for girls interested in becoming a Daisy or Brownie Girl Scout. 5 Miler Trail Race

What:† The Mid Penn Trailblazers will be holding the 2nd Annual Wildlife for Everyone 5 Miler.† This race will take runners through wooded areas, open fields, and along several ponds providing the opportunity to see many of Pennsylvania's wild animals.† Race proceeds benefit the Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation.

When:† Sat. July 11 starting at 9 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m.

Blood Drive

What: City Hall will host its first Blood Drive. All donors must have positive ID with them in order to donate. As a special incentive, all donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly’s Ice Cream.

Antique Tractor Pull

What: Buffalo Valley Antique Machinery Association will have an antique tractor pull,†††

When: Sun., July 5.. Weigh-in begins at 9 a.m. and pulls begin at 11 a.m.

Where: Pulling Track, 2 miles north of Lewisburg on Route 15.

 

Relay for Life Golf Tourney

What: Kissinger Bigatel & Brower Realtors will host the 4th Annual Deb Shirey Memorial Relay for Life Golf Tournament. Dinner to follow. Four Person Scramble. Entry fee is $85 per person.

Fishing Creek Heritage Days

What: Fishing Creek Heritage Days. A family-oriented program that lets participants relive important, authentic Civil War era events. Activities include: Civil War re-enactments, theatrical production of the Fishing Creek Confederacy, artillery demonstrations, and much more. What: St Luke Pre-school's Annual Indoor Yard Sale fundraising event will be held.

Mom’s Morning Out

What: Lycoming Christian Church will provide three opportunities this summer for a “Mom’s Morning Out” for women of the area. Moms will be able to drop their children off at the church and enjoy a couple hours of free time while their children are being entertained. Young participants will be kept busy with crafts, indoor and outdoor activities, Bible stories, music, food and more. For more information, call the church office at 322.9940. Announcements...

Pops in the Park

What: Now in its the sixth year, the ever-popular Pops in the Park free concerts will return to the historic Brandon Park Bandshell on June 28th with the Billtown Brass. Their program will include Dixieland, songs from films and musicals, patriotic themes, and light classical transcriptions. Highlights of the set will include "Bridge Over the River Kwai," "Stars & Stripes Forever," and "The Pink Panther March."

What: The WSO will take the stage on Sunday, July 12th under the baton of Music Director Tomasz Golka. The set will include patriotic themes, standards from stage and screen, and symphonic classics (the WSO will repeat the program on Wednesday, July 15th, at Hufnagle Park in Lewisburg).

When: All of the concerts will take place on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. and are free to the public (donations will be accepted). Restrooms are located in the bandshell. There will be a vendor selling drinks and refreshments. Rain dates are June 29th and July 13th.

Where: The Bandshell in beautiful Brandon Park, Williamsort.

History Day Camp

What:† The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will offer its weeklong History Day Camp for children 8 to 12 that will feature American Indian hands-on activities, a simulated archeological dig, early American crafts, 19th Century Lumbering activities and more. What: Justin Anthony Lutz's solo project "Missanalysis in which he uses only an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal to create multi-layered soundscapes that range from subtle to intense will be featured as part of First Friday festivities.
